Hemorrhoidal disease (HD) is one of the most common anorectal disorders seen in the proctology practise [1]. Stapled hemorrhoidopexy (SH) has been reported as a highly effective alternative to other invasive approaches [2]. However, a recently published randomized controlled trial concluded that SH was worse for recurrence rates, symptoms, re-interventions and quality-of-life measures compared to traditional haemorrhoidectomy [3]. In addition, SH is more expensive.
