?:abstract
  • Although the UK is still waiting to gain access to the second generation Libre, Abbott have recently announced that the new FreeStyle Libre 3 has been given a CE mark for use in Europe. The Libre 2 acts as a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) rather than a flash monitor and continuously sends readings to the reader via Bluetooth, as long as it is within 6m. If alarms are set by the user, it will warn if the blood glucose is going too low or too high or if the reader cannot communicate with the sensor. However, to see the actual reading, the user still has to \'swipe\' the reader over the sensor.
