?:definition
  • A synthetic, red powder that is insoluble in water and soluble in acetone, ethanol, ether, benzene, chloroform and acetic acid. It is used almost exclusively as a dye and dye intermediate for the production of a variety of anthraquinone dyes. The primary routes of potential human exposure to 1-amino-2-methylanthraquinone are inhalation and dermal contact. However, human exposure is limited because this compound is no longer produced in the United States. It is reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen. (NCI05)
