Dental impression materials with elastomeric properties whose main component is polysulfide. They are designed to make an accurate negative reproduction of a given area of the oral cavity. These dental impression materials consist of a base (mercaptan polysulfide), a cross-linking agent (e.g., sulfur and/or lead peroxide) and catalysts (e.g., copper hydroxides, zinc peroxide, organic hydroperoxide). Polysulfide rubber-based dental impression materials with a fast setting time are available. These dental impression materials are supplied in paste form and are packed in tubes. They are used in dental offices for crowns, bridges, inlays, and temporary denture relines.
