  • Bilirubinometers that measure the concentration of bilirubin in neonate blood through the skin. A light beam is applied to the newborn\'s skin, usually on the forehead or sternum, and the reflected light is split into two beams (with wavelengths of 455 nm and 575 nm), which are measured by optical detectors. The blood bilirubin concentration can be derived from the measured light absorbance.
