?:definition
  • Cardiographs designed to be used to record heart-wall motion, (primarily anterior left ventricular motion) in an amplitude-versus-time graph (cardiokymograph). These recorders consist of a transducer (e.g., a flat coil) that is strapped to the chest, which works as a component of a high-frequency, low-power oscillator. Motion within the electromagnetic field changes the electric parameters (e.g., capacitance), producing a change in the frequency of the oscillator. Cardiokymographs are very focal and can only detect motion of vectorial components perpendicular to and directly under their coil. They are intended for noninvasive detection of regional ischemic contractions.
