Vascular surgical clamps designed for the atraumatic compression, after birth, of an abnormal persistent fetal vessel lumen connecting the left pulmonary artery to the descending aorta (i.e., patent ductus arteriosus), during open-surgery procedures, usually to cause temporary occlusion. These clamps are typically handheld, manual instruments including two parts pivoted at the center with serrated distal blades that are straight or curved; some devices are calibrated (e.g., mm, inch) on the outside edges of the tips. Ductus arteriosus vascular clamps are available mainly in infant and pediatric sizes.
