Automated clinical chemistry laboratory analyzers in which the chemical reactions take place in a continuously flowing stream of fluid in such a way that each specimen in the batch passes through the same continuous path once they leave the sample carousel. Each specimen is also subjected to the same analytical reactions at the same rate as every other specimen. These analyzers usually include peristaltic pumps to maintain the movement of fluid, and photometric or ion-selective electrode methods for measuring the concentration of analytes.
