  • Dental materials which consist of papers designed to identify contact points between the maxillary and the mandibular teeth (i.e., articulation) during natural tooth occlusal adjustments. These articulation materials are soft and fine papers treated with brightly colored materials (e.g., dye or wax) that mark the points of contact made by the teeth when a patient bites or grinds on it. Dental articulating papers should produce a sharp and clean field of markings on surfaces (e.g., natural teeth, porcelain, synthetic resins and dental metals) in a wet or dry field; they also may show different intensity of colors corresponding to occlusal pressure. Articulation papers are usually supplied as pre-cut strips or sheets and are used in dentists\' offices to locate uneven occlusal areas in the bite.
