  • Denture reliner materials with a hard consistency designed for placement in the space between the denture base and the natural gums to improve denture fit. These reliners are made of acrylic resins or silicone-based products that become a solid, hard product when added to the base or tissue-contacting surface of a denture conforming to the contours of the tissues. Typically, the denture together with an accurate impression of the shape of the gums is sent to the laboratory by the dentist for replacement of the impression material with a hard (e.g., acrylic) denture reliner. Hard denture reliners are used in dental laboratories to restore dentures, usually after removing some of the existing plastic from the inner portion of the denture base. Due to wear on dentures and/or changes in the users\' gums, the process should be repeated periodically (e.g., every other year).
