Gowns designed to protect the wearer against physical contamination from patients with infectious diseases. These gowns are usually ankle-length and have long sleeves with elastic cuffs, full front and back coverage, and tie at the neck and waist. Isolation gowns are intended to fully cover the external clothing of the wearer (e.g., healthcare providers, healthcare facilities staff, and visitors). They are typically made of light-weight, fluid-resistant and breathable materials. Disposable non-woven (e.g., polypropylene) and reusable woven (e.g., polyester, cotton) isolation gowns are available.
