Contrast media injectors designed to inject the contrast media through a small catheter into the vascular system for computed tomography (CT) procedures. These devices typically consist of automated electromechanical injectors with syringes that may be either reusable, disposable, or both; pneumatic mechanisms and peristaltic pumps are less frequently used. CT contrast media injectors are capable of delivering contrast media with the pressure, flow range, and volume required for CT studies, some injectors can synchronize the delivery with the x-ray generator. They are used for a wide variety of diagnostic procedures (e.g., spine, head, vascular, gastrointestinal) using CT scanning.
