?:definition
  • Leg holders designed for use during perioperative procedures. These devices may consist of rigid or articulated metallic mechanisms that hold and secure one or both legs in appropriate position before, during, and/or after a surgical procedure to facilitate the performance of the procedure with minimum additional stress for the legs and leg articulations, frequently providing padding to avoid damage of the skin and/or muscles and nerves. Some surgical leg holders are powered. Simpler leg holders, usually plastic single-use (i.e., disposable) devices are also available. Perioperative leg holders are used mostly for arthroscopic surgery of the knee or heel.
