Devices designed to reflect an image of an object placed in front of them. Mirrors typically have a glass or metallic surface sufficiently polished to reflect enough undiffused light to yield images of the objects; mirror images may be magnified or not according to the intended purpose of the mirror. Small handheld mirrors are available for use as dedicated instruments during diagnostic, dental, and/or surgical procedures; larger mobile or wall mounted mirrors are also available and used for clinical purposes such as posture analysis and the perinatal process.
