Ophthalmic measuring instruments designed to determine the distance between the pupils. The instruments usually consist of a light source to generate the reflection from the cornea, a target object for eye fixation, an alignment component for adjusting the reflection lines on the pupils, a sensor for detecting the light reflection, data processing software, and a screen for displaying the result. Ophthalmodiastimeters are used mainly to establish the distance required between lenses when making prescription eyeglasses.
