Devices with an integrated loudspeaker (i.e., devices intended to convert electrical signals from audio equipment into sound waves) and control buttons allowing a user to control remotely one or more pieces of non-medical equipment in a patient room (e.g., television, lights, drapes) and/or activate nurse call communication systems. Pillow speakers typically consist of a handheld, sealed plastic housing with the control buttons and loudspeaker arrayed on one face of the device. Pillow speakers are typically wired devices that include a cable with a connector appropriate for connecting with device (e.g., television) and/or nurse call communication system interface.
