  • Dental materials designed to highlight the presence of dental plaque on tooth surfaces by means of harmless dyes. These dental materials consist of a dye (i.e., coloring) agent such as iodine and excipients. Plaque disclosing materials do not have prophylactic or therapeutic action, but by staining the region indicating the presence of plaque show the patient and/or dental healthcare providers the areas where more brushing and flossing are needed.
