Eyelid weights designed for implantation under the upper eyelid to provide additional weight. These devices are typically metal (e.g., gold, platinum) weights in a range from 0.5 to 3.0 grams that are surgically implanted under the upper eyelid, conforming to the curvature of the ocular sphere. Implantable eyelid weights are used in the treatment of partial facial paralysis in which the eye cannot be completely closed (i.e., lagophthalmos); their use reduces the risk of ocular exposure and improves the appearance of the face.
