  • Suction tips that include a fiberoptic bunch to provide illumination at the distal end. These tips usually consist of short, wide, rigid tubes (either straight or bent) with an integral handle for easy manipulation; the handle is attached to the distal end of suction hoses or tubes that are in turn connected to high-level suction aspirators that include a fiberoptic light source. Fiberoptic suction tips are used mainly in the upper respiratory tract (nasal cavity and pharynx) and during surgical procedures when speed and excellent illumination are needed; these tips are usually reusable devices. Dedicated fiberoptic suction tips are available for particular surgical procedures and also for procedures performed in the oropharynx.
