T-fasteners designed to appose the anterior gastric wall to the anterior abdominal wall. These fasteners consist of a metal T-bar, usually with a plastic (e.g., nylon) suture attached to it. These devices are typically positioned within a longitudinal side slot in a needle; the needle with the suture is introduced into the gastric lumen. The T-bar is then moved into the lumen, the suture is pulled back against the stomach wall, and a cotton pledget anchors it outside the abdominal wall. Percutaneous gastrostomy T-fasteners are used to facilitate the insertion of gastrostomy tubes via gastropexy procedures and to prevent the separation from the anterior abdominal wall in the event that the tube is dislodged.
