Video systems designed to transmit images and sound from the operating field to monitors, recorders, and/or video printers. These systems typically consist of standard or high-bandwidth overhead television cameras, television signal processors, and high-definition video recorders, monitors, and printers. Operating room television systems permit the observation of the operatory field simultaneously by several surgeons in the operating room, transmission of images to remote locations (e.g., for educational purposes), and record keeping of the procedures. Some systems include adapters to permit the transmission of images from endoscopes and/or operating microscopes.
