Devices designed to provide a test pattern appropriate for measurement, calibration, and quality control during radiographic procedures. These test patterns typically consist of metal (e.g., lead-foil, copper mesh, gold-nickel alloys) screens frequently sandwiched between two plastic plates; the choice of the pattern configuration, either linear or circular, and its other characteristics depends on the particular measurement (e.g., focal spot size, resolution, modulation transfer function) to be performed. Radiographic test patterns are intended for radiographic and/or fluoroscopic units and systems and/or associated equipment such as image intensifiers and video systems. Dedicated patterns for mammographic units high-resolution patterns used to assess fluoroscopic equipment, and test patterns in digital signal format (e.g., digital versatile disks [DVDs]) are also available.
