Electrical testers designed to measure the conductivity (or its inverse, resistivity) of shoes. These testers are typically an instrument that can measure conductivity from a few to several hundred mA (i.e., from hundreds of ohms to some megohms) and two metal plates intended to support the wearer, who stands with a foot on each; some testers also include visual signals (e.g., colored lights) to indicate that the measured conductivity is below preestablished safety values. Conductivity is usually measured from one plate to the other through both shoes and the caregiver\'s body. Shoe conductivity testers are used to assess personnel-to-floor conductivity before personnel enter operating rooms and other potentially explosive environments.
