Systems designed to amplify a speaker\'s (e.g., classroom instructor\'s) voice to facilitate listening by one or more persons in the audience. These devices typically consist of a microphone worn by the speaker that transmits audio signals to individual listening devices. Auditory trainers typically transmit audio signals wirelessly via radio or infrared wireless technology; however, systems using wired connections may also be available. Individual listing devices typically consist of earphones; some systems include wireless receivers that can be coupled to users\' hearing aids, using the hearing aid as the listening device. Auditory trainers are typically used to facilitate listening by persons with hearing impairments and/or deficits in maintaining attention or auditory processing.
