Devices designed to facilitate and/or improve the skills to perform healthcare procedures and/or the use of medical devices. Training aids may consist of printed and audiovisual materials that provide text; still or moving (e.g., video) images; dedicated devices (e.g., masks, shoes); or kits and training simulators. Training simulators usually include manikins that mimic the whole human body and/or anatomic models resembling the characteristics and/or performance of particular body parts (e.g., organs). Training simulators permit the simulation and training in a clinical, endoscopic, or surgical procedure. Training aids are used for teaching or to improve the capabilities of the healthcare staff (e.g., surgeons, nurses, paramedics); they may also be used to train patients in the performance of healthcare and/or rehabilitation procedures (e.g., use of exercisers) by themselves.
