Wrappers, typically in the form of a sheet, envelope, or wrap, designed to contain medical devices during the sterilization process and maintain the sterility of the device until the wrapper is opened. These wraps are typically water and alcohol repellent, contain a microbial barrier, have a high resistance to puncture and tearing, and are made of cloth or paper materials (e.g., polypropylene fabric, crepe paper) that are porous to allow for the penetration of sterilizing agents (e.g., chemicals, heat, or steam) within the sterilizing unit (e.g., autoclave). There are typically chemical sterilization process indicators on both the inside and outside of the wrap to indicate that the wrap has been through a sterilizing unit and remains sterile during storage.
