  • refers to the part of the transverse cerebral fissure that separates the ventral surfaces of the corpus callosum and fornix (of the endbrain) from the dorsal surface of the interbrain. Formed by the folding back of the endbrain over the interbrain during fetal development, it is technically outside the brain. It gets its name from the Telencephalon and Diencephalon, embryonic precursors of the endbrain and interbrain respectively.
