Instruments designed for bending metallic wires and/or plastic cords or tightening them to anatomic parts and/or prostheses and implants during surgical and dental procedures. Some crimpers are used to manipulate flexible pins and bands. These crimpers are typically a dedicated forceps- or pliers-like, handheld, manual instrument with jaws specially conformed to manipulate wires (and/or flexible pins or bands). Wire crimpers are used mainly in orthopedic, middle-ear, and nasal procedures.
