A species of Gram negative, rod shaped bacteria assigned to the phylum Proteobacteria. This species is motile by a single polar flagellum, oxidase positive, halophilic and produce acid from D glucose, L arabinose, D galactose and D mannose. G. hollisae is pathogenic to immunocompetent individuals and most commonly causes moderate to severe gastroenteritis.
