Regulated power supplies that receive alternating-current energy from a power line and deliver one or more regulated direct-current outputs. Electrophoresis regulated power supplies usually consist of a step-up or step-down transformer, a rectifier, a filter, and an electronic regulator that keeps the voltage, current, or power output constant over a broad range of loads and input voltages. They are used in clinical laboratories either attached to or as an integral part of electrophoresis chambers.
