?:definition
  • Laboratory blood gas analyzers which combine the capacities of both the blood gas/pH analyzers and the electrolyte analyzers used in the laboratory. These analyzers can directly measure pH and partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PCO2) and Oxygen (PO2), as well as the most common ions (i.e., sodium [Na+], potassium [K+], chloride [Cl-], bicarbonate [HCO3-] ) present in whole blood. These analyzers are used to determine a patient\'s acid-base balance and oxygen/carbon dioxide exchange and also to assess abnormal electrolyte levels in the blood.
