Analyzers designed to take samples and measure and display the concentration of one or more gases (e.g., oxygen, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, ethylene oxide, halogenated anesthetics) in a gas mixture. These analyzers typically consist of portable units operated either by line power or batteries; they include gas sensors (e.g., optical, electrochemical, infrared), a built-in sampling pump, electronic circuitry, and a display. These units may also include recording capabilities. Environmental/gas system analyzers are used to measure the concentration of gases in healthcare facility environments (e.g., operating rooms, intensive care units, laboratories), at a sampling point of a compressed medical air or gas system, and/or in other medical devices used for respiratory therapy or anesthesia.
