Respiration simulators designed to mimic the normal or abnormal sounds of breathing, either using simulated sounds from an analog circuit generator and/or digitally recorded signals stored in their memory from a real patient . The characteristics of the sounds can be altered in a certain range, such as respiration rate from 10 to 100 bpm and inspiration/expiration rate. Abnormal sounds can be added in any part of the respiratory cycle. Breathing sound simulators are mostly used for training purposes.
