Testers that combine the capabilities of electrical safety testers and multiparameter medical device simulators. They include instruments that measure electrical variables and parameters such as leakage electric current and resistance and can evaluate the safety of electrical devices, including line power receptacles and line interruption monitors. These testers also include pulse generators designed to simulate the bioelectrical signals of human organs (e.g., heart, brain) and/or the electrical output of transducers that detect patient vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, temperature) and convert these signals into electrical signals. Electrical safety/medical device performance testers are typically used for automatic verification of the safety of electrically powered medical equipment and other electrical devices (e.g., line power receptacles and ground-fault circuit interrupters); they are also used to check the performance of single- and multiparameter physiologic monitors and other devices that record and measure physiologic parameters.
