Needles designed for either aspiration or injection of gases, liquids, and semisolids in body tissues or cavities, either directly or through other medical devices (e.g., catheter introducers, infusion ports). These needles typically consist of hollow, metallic devices with the proximal end finished in a connector (e.g., female Luer slip or Luer lock) that can be easily attached to a syringe or other infusion/withdrawal device. Some injection needles may have blunt or noncoring tips.
