Compression bone staples consisting of two separated pieces (legs) that can be adjusted as a staple to produce compression using a mechanical threaded mechanism. These staples apply a compression force that is effective to avoid plaster fixation after tibial osteotomy; they are also used as an aid in procedures involving fixation of the joints with proliferation of bone cells (i.e., arthrodesis), including the knee, shoulder, and ankle joints.
