  • Storage cabinets designed to accommodate and protect fire extinguishers. These cabinets may consist of either a surface or recessed wall-mounted unit and are typically made of metal (e.g., steel, aluminum), plastic, fiberglass, or wood. Many cabinets include a glass or transparent-plastic front door to make the extinguisher visible. Some cabinets are designed to provide access to the extinguisher only when the glass door is broken; they usually include a hammer for that purpose. Fire-extinguisher cabinets are available in several sizes to accommodate different types of fire extinguishers, from the most common 2.25/4.5 kg (5/10 lb) dry chemical extinguishers to heavier (e.g., 14 kg/[30 lb]) units.
