Microemulsion chemical-neutralization decontaminants (known as C8 decontaminants) that consist of a combination, by weight, of 15% tetrachloroethylene (C2Cl2), 76% water, 1% surfactant, and 8% calcium hypochlorite (Ca[Ocl]2). This emulsion in particularly effective in the decontamination of nerve agents of the G series and VX, as well as mustard (HD). C8 can also dissolve chemical agents embedded inside painted surfaces without paint damage; C8 can be easily rinsed off with water after decontamination.
