Decontaminants intended for physical removal of contaminants from the surface of individuals (i.e., skin), personal gear, garments, and/or equipment (including vehicles and/or installations). Physical-removal decontaminants may consist of common products (e.g., water, air, soap, flour) either at room temperature or hot; fluids (e.g., gases, water) are usually delivered at high pressure. Some decontaminants consist of products specifically designed for that purpose (e.g., polymeric absorbent resins, viscous solutions). Physical decontaminants generally do not neutralize chemical or biological agents, making it necessary to use additional chemical decontamination to achieve complete decontamination.
