  • Chemical agent detector and/or monitor simulators designed to detect a nonhazardous chemical simulant with characteristics similar to the hazardous agent. Chemical agent simulators may detect and/or monitor either liquid or powder simulants. The simulants can be mixed to produce simulant contaminants of different consistencies (e.g., water, oil); several technologies are used for this purpose (e.g., fluorescence). These simulators are used to simulate chemical detectors and/or monitors during training, both for contamination detection and decontamination procedures, without using the real contaminants.
