Occluders designed to close the slender tubes that connect the uterus with the ovaries (i.e., fallopian tubes) to prevent the sperm from reaching the ovum. These occluders may consist either of devices applied externally to the tubes (e.g., clips, bands) or devices inserted into the tubes (e.g., plugs, valves). Fallopian tube occluders are used for permanent prevention of conception (contraception), but some devices may be successfully explanted.
