  • Particulate air filters designed to remove very fine particulate from the air, typically 99.97% of particles larger than 0.3 micron. These filters usually consist of pleats of filter medium separated by rigid sheets of corrugated paper or aluminum foil; most high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters direct the flow of air in a uniform parallel pattern (laminar flow). HEPA filters are used to obtain very low particulate environments in places such as clean rooms, patient isolation chambers, and laminar air hoods; they are also used in high efficiency air cleaners.
