  • Airway clearance units designed to applied high-frequency oscillation (i.e., compression) to the chest wall using an external, flexible chest enclosure (a cuirass, similar to those used in negative pressure ventilators), delivering noninvasive oscillation (i.e., cycles of positive and negative pressure) to the airways and lungs. These devices typically include an electrically powered oscillator that is controlled using a microprocessor.
