Prepackaged collections of devices and supplies (either custom or standard) needed to perform peritoneal lavage procedures. Peritoneal lavage involves washing out the peritoneal cavity by instilling fluid (e.g., normal saline or lactated Ringer\'s solution) into the peritoneal cavity and subsequently draining the administered fluid back out of the cavity. Peritoneal lavage can be performed as a diagnostic procedure, (e.g., for detecting visceral injury following blunt or penetrating abdominal trauma), as well as a therapeutic procedure (e.g., for the application of cytostatic drugs inside the peritoneum for the treatment of malignancies). Typical kit components include introducer needles, injection needles, lavage catheters, guide wires, tubing sets, and supplies for obtaining/maintaining sterility (e.g., drapes, disinfectant, etc.)
