Ligature passers designed to carry and manipulate ligatures through tissue and around blood vessels. These passers are typically manual, handheld instruments including a rod with a straight or curved distal end and with an appropriate configuration (e.g., U-shaped, loop) to hold the ligature and a handle to manipulate the ligature. Vascular ligature passers are used mainly to fix ligatures around deep vessels; dedicated carriers are available for particular arteries (e.g., aorta) and/or veins.
