  • Clip appliers designed to deliver small atraumatic implantable clips in the upper and/or the lower gastrointestinal (GI) tract walls through the working channel of an endoscope. These appliers typically include a fixing device with a rotational mechanism for direct orientation of the clips. Clips are loaded into the applier and drawn into a sheath; the clip is advanced out of the sheath at the lesion site, oriented with a rotational handle, and then deployed. Multiple-use and preloaded single-use devices are available. GI tract clip appliers are used for treatment of bleeding in diseases such as peptic ulcers, gastric angiectasis, and gastric tumors; they are frequently used following sphincterotomy and biopsy in the upper GI tract. Some appliers can also be used for surgical procedures in the lower GI tract, such as diverticula and rectal ulcers, and following polypectomy and biopsy.
