-
A rare benign primary endocardial tumor characterized macroscopically by its small size and highly papillar pedunculated appearance. The tumor is characterized histologically as avascular and presents with a single layer of endothelium. It is usually asymptomatic, however, cardiac or neurological symptoms due to ischemia or thromboembolic complications (such as syncope, transient ischemia, myocardial infarction or stroke) may be observed. The cardiac valves especially the aortic valve are commonly affected.
