Supporting structures (i.e., docks) designed to facilitate connectivity to otherwise handheld computers and/or for automated charging their internal rechargeable batteries. These docks (also known as docking stations) typically consist of a structure made of metal, hard plastic, or a combination of these that is usually mounted on the wall or placed on a tabletop. The docks hold and provide appropriate connectors to plug-in the handheld computer, facilitating their connectivity and/or providing means to recharge their internal batteries. The docks may also include wired or wireless connection to other devices such as label printers and/or information systems facilitating the download of data, a power converter (e.g., 120 VAC to 12 VDC), and a line cord for connection to the mains.
