Surgical saws designed to cut bone and other hard tissue with minimal damage to the surrounding tissue. These saws are typically handheld, manual instruments with a metal structure and a detachable or integral serrated blade or powered (e.g., electric, pneumatic) instruments with a motor to drive an oscillating, reciprocating, or sagittal blade. Bone surgical saws are used in orthopedic, cardiothoracic, and other procedures; dedicated manual wire (e.g., Gigli) saws intended mainly for cranial cutting procedures are also available.
