Interacting selectively and non-covalently with a 5\'-flap structure in DNA. A DNA flap structure is one in which a single-stranded 5\'-end of DNA or RNA protrudes from a double-stranded DNA molecule. 5\'-flap structures can be formed during DNA repair or lagging strand synthesis; in the latter case RNA flaps form from lagging strand RNA primers.
